Kindle Vildor Leaves Detroit Lions for Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Despite making it to the wild card round in their last campaign after topping the NFC South table, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to bolster their squad in the offseason. The Buccaneers have officially recruited former Detroit Lions mainstay Kindle Vildor on a one-year free-agent contract in a bid to bolster their options in the cornerback department.
Here’s everything you need to know about Vildor’s transfer to the two-time Super Bowl champions.
Kindle Vildor signs one-year contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Kindle Vildor’s agents, Kevin Conner and Robert Brown, seasoned cornerback Kindle Vildor has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Additionally, FOX Sports’ Greg Auman has suggested that Vildor’s deal with Tampa Bay falls under the veteran salary benefit category of agreements. As such, the ex-Lions player is expected to have a base salary of $1.17 million in the forthcoming NFL season.
Prior to signing with the Buccaneers, Kindle Vildor spent the previous season with the Lions, racking up 17 appearances, including two starts. He pitched in with 16 tackles while also successfully defending three passes, as per Lions Wire.
Despite being a reliable cornerback for most of his playing career, Vildor is most remembered for his peculiar intervention in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers in 2023. During a play in the game, the football inadvertently bounced off the 2018 Sun Belt Player of the Year’s helmet, causing the opposing wideout Brandon Aiyuk to snatch away possession and launch a 51-yard gain. While Vildor wasn’t particularly to blame for the mishap, his team ultimately paid the price and lost the bout by a score of 34-31.
Kindle Vildor’s transfer to the Buccaneers means that he will now play for the fifth NFL team in his career. The Georgia Southern graduate kickstarted his professional journey with the Chicago Bears before switching to the Tennessee Titans after three seasons. Additionally, Vildor has also donned the jersey of the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit for just 25 days.
