What Did Amy Adams Say About the Taylor Swift Biopic Petition?
Although a Taylor Swift biopic is not officially in development, there has been a lot of fan speculation about potential cast members. Quite a few Swifties want six-time Academy Award-nominee Amy Adams to portray Swift‘s publicist Tree Paine, and the idea has gained a lot of attention. During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the American Hustle star addressed the fan-casting.
What did Amy Adams say about Taylor Swift’s biopic?
Adams appeared on the Tuesday, December 3 episode of The Tonight Show and was asked by Fallon if she had seen the online campaign about her portraying Paine. The host even showed her a social media post that claimed that Adams would win an Oscar if she did the movie.
“That would be amazing,” Adams said. “That would be so fun. I mean… if it got me closer to Taylor, then that would be fun.”
The two-time Golden Globe winner confided to Fallon that she had recently become a Taylor Swift fan. “I’ve always liked her music and appreciated her, and then I went to the Eras Tour — a friend of mine had a ticket — and then I became, like, a Swiftie… at 50,” Adams elaborated. “I’m a Swiftie at 50. So I’m like a shifty Swiftie 50.”
Adams agreed with Fallon that she had to trademark that last remark. She added, “And then I’m like, ‘Isn’t that nifty?’ And now my daughter’s going, ‘Oh, I hate this for you.’”
In the same interview, Adams recalled meeting Swift years ago at an after-party after an award show. “There was karaoke, and I sang karaoke with Taylor Swift,” she said.
The Enchanted star revealed that she and the “Shake It Off” singer performed “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye. “And I may have sang it a little loud,” Adams added, “And I’m sure everybody was like ‘Amy, shut up. We want to hear Taylor sing.’”
Adams’ daughter, born in 2010, is named Aviana with her husband Darren Le Gallo, who is an actor and painter.
